Active Adult programs for adults 60 are organized out of the Oakton Community Center's Lounge. The overall program features drop-in programs, exercise classes, Wednesday movies, card clubs, seasonal parties, health and wellness fairs, shopping trips, lunch and dinner outings, day trips, vacation getaways and more.

The Park District offers a variety of FREE drop-in programs for Active Adults (60+) at the Oakton Community Center.

Humanities Discussion: 9:30–11:30A
Mah Jong Club: 12–3:30P

Mah Jong Club & Canasta: 11A–2P

Movie & Popcorn: 1P (full list of movies available here)
Mah Jong Club: 1–3:30P

Laramie Card Club: 9:30A–12P
German Conversation Group: 1–2:30P (first and third Thursdays)

Additional free programs are available seasonally.


The Active Adults Lounge is open to all Skokie Residents 60 & better. Located at the Oakton Center, the lounge offers a big screen TV, computers, card tables, and books.

Monday–Friday: 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Senior Theater

SAU-logoStill Acting Up! is a Skokie Park District-sponsored performance troupe of talented seniors over the age of 60. Since 1986, the group has written and performed original musical productions throughout the Chicago area, and presents a new production each October, rehearsing at the Oakton Community Center and performing at the Devonshire Playhouse.
