This facility is open only to registered skaters, their instructors, and registered public session skaters (please use the public skate tab above to register). One non-skating parent or chaperone may accompany a child into the building. Fall Skatium Program Guide

Listen closely and you may hear the echoes of skating legends Scott Hamilton, Denis Savard, Evan Lysacek, Sasha Cohen and Stan Mikita!

Whether your preference is hockey, figure skating, or recreational skating, the Skatium Ice Arena has something for everyone. Programs are taught by ice arena and affiliate organization professionals who provide comprehensive ice skating programs and leagues for all ages and abilities. A full-size rink as well as a smaller rink can be used for private parties or roller hockey during the summer. Open for public skating, year-round.

Public Skating

Due to COVID-19, the Skatium Ice Arena is currently closed to all but registered skaters and their instructors, and public session skaters. (Exception: One non-skating parent or chaperone may accompany a child into the building.)

Your family and friends will thoroughly enjoy the Skatium Ice Arena’s daily public skating sessions. After a few laps around the ice you may even decide to sign up for our award-winning figure skating and, or hockey programs!

Public Skating Sessions 

September 1 to October 1, 2020
Tuesdays: 10:15 a.m.–1 p.m.
Wednesdays: 11:15 a.m.–1 p.m.
Thursdays: 10:15 a.m.–1 p.m.
Fridays: 10:15 a.m.–1 p.m.

Beginning October 2, 2020
Tuesdays: 10:15 a.m.–1 p.m.
Wednesdays: 11:15 a.m.–1 p.m.
Thursdays: 10:15 a.m.–1 p.m.
Fridays: 10:15 a.m.– 1 p.m. & 7:15–8:30 p.m.
Saturdays: 2:10–3:40 p.m. & 7:10–8:40 p.m. (studio rink)
Sundays: 2–3:15 p.m. p.m.

Rules for entering the Skatium

1. Face masks are required to enter building
2. Face masks are required while skating
3. No spectators allowed in the building. (Exception: One non-skating parent or chaperone may accompany a child.)
4. Limit of 50 skaters per session

Skate Rental: $3

Public skate admission tickets and skate rental tickets must be purchased online before arriving at the rink.

Practice Ice

Practice ice is for figure skaters to practice on their own, take private lessons with their coaches, run their competition programs with music, and prepare for moves, ice dance and freestyle tests. Non-staff coaches are welcome to teach at the Skatium. Please contact Skating Director Christine Hathaway for non-staff coach requirements at (847) 674-1500, ext. 2925.

Skokie Amateur Hockey Association

SkokieFlyers-SAHAlogoThe SAHA All-Star Program is designed to meet the needs and interests of more advanced players at all age levels.

All-Star Hockey is for players and their families who desire more competition, involvement and commitment to the total hockey experience.

Scout Programs

Introduction to skating for Daisies, Brownies, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts
Scouts may earn an ice skating fun patch at the Skatium. The class features a lesson about ice rinks, the Zamboni, and an introduction to skating for Daisies, Brownies, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts. All Scouts will receive a Fun Patch, two free public skate admissions and a free skate rental.

Merit Badges for Boy Scouts 
Boy Scouts interested in a Merit Badge can set up a day and time to work through the requirements. Email Skating Director Christine Hathaway or call her at (847) 674-1500, ext. 2925, to reserve a spot for your troop, den or for a Scouts BSA Merit Badge.
