Skokie's Backlot Bash, now in its thirteenth year, announced its 2019 headliners today, three of seventeen live acts that will play on two street stages over three days, August 23-25, featuring rock, blues, funk, folk, soul, roots and more.

The Bash begins on Friday night with New Jersey rock band The Smithereens featuring guest vocalist Marshall Crenshaw. The band is known for their ‘80s and ‘90s power pop hits like “A Girl Like You” and "Only a Memory." Chicago's Material Issue will open the night, featuring '90s hits like "Valerie Loves Me."

Saturday night will feature ‘70s Long Beach, California funk superstars and three-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees, WAR. Their hits include “Low Rider,” “Cisco Kid,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and “Spill the Wine.” 

On Sunday, Tributosaurus, a collection of some of Chicago’s finest studio musicians, will become the The Rolling Stones.

The three-day street festival will also host a carnival midway, a large beer tent with a small music stage, the Backlot Dash 5K Run, a children's stage and kid's activities at the Skokie Public Library, classic films, a classic auto show, a bingo tent, a dunk tank, a sponsor and community resource fair, exhibits at the Skokie Heritage Museum –– and on Sunday, a farmer's market and the Rotary Pancake Breakfast from 8-11 a.m., featuring a bloody mary & mimosa bar.
