Two Skokie Park District dance team members took top solo honors recently at the Showstopper Dance Championships at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora. The Devonshire Dance team competed against dozens of dance studios from around the state, with winners qualifying for the national finals.

Natalia Semchuk (left) received first place overall in the Senior (ages 14-18) Performance Solo competition, as well as a platinum award for her pointe solo. Mikki Stotter (right) earned third place overall in Senior Performance Solo, in addition to a gold award for her lyrical solo. Both dancers are now qualified for the national finals in July. The dance team is led by dance instructor, Jessica Sawyer and dance supervisor, Caryn Watson.

Showstopper is the largest dance competition in the country, hosting more than 100,000 dancers nationwide.
