Young children will develop flexibility, and strength and coordination, in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies in order to enhance memory and agility. Watch your child’s confidence blossom and their skills improve. On Monday 3/16 all Karate Classes will meet at Prairie View Community Center.

Offering a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises, students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules.

This after-school Taekwon club makes building fitness, self-discipline, and the confidence to succeed, a fun experience that kids can share together. Grandmaster Connelly’s programs have provided safe, expert instruction in a non-competitive environment to schools throughout the North Shore since 1993. Classes are open to beginning and continuing students in first through eighth grades. Uniforms are optional and available on request for $35. Grandmaster Connelly and the Connelly’s Academy team of martial arts educators provide the highest quality martial arts education in safe and engaging environments. Each instructor is an advanced level martial artist and well-experienced in working with young people. Focused primarily on Taekwon-do, classes are fun and challenging, with the goal of fostering success for each student. No Class: February 26 or March 19 Registration Deadline: Wednesday, 1/8/26. Minimum enrollment of 5 students must be met by registration deadline for class to run. This class is part of the Connelly Martial Arts Academy.

Basic concepts of Filipino Martial Arts are first taught with impact and bladed weapons before empty hands. This system is different from other Martial Arts which teach empty hand techniques before weapons. Topics covered will include single stick, double stick, and dagger (short stick). Knife defense and empty hands are also covered in later classes. The universality of motion and flow inherent in the art will be taught once the basics are learned. Certain techniques can be carried over from (single stick) to (double stick) to (dagger) to (empty hands), and knife defense.
