Skokie Park District staff are excited to announce the re-opening of the Emerson Park playground. This brand-new playground was made possible with the cooperation of the Village of Skokie and its remaining CARES Act funding, part of a $2.2 trillion federal economic stimulus bill supporting activities that prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Like the nearly 50 local businesses and organizations that have benefited from these funds since their allocation, the Skokie Park District project advances the public purpose of the CARES Act by expanding opportunities for residents to safely utilize outdoor recreational spaces. Encouraging outdoor activities in well-ventilated environments helps reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission while supporting the community’s ongoing public health, wellness, and recovery efforts.

Thanks to the staffs of both the Skokie Park District's Park Services Division and the Village of Skokie for their work on this collaborative project.
