Instructordrums

Jackson Renda is a prominent and prolific drummer, composer, producer, and educator, quickly rising and making himself known in the Chicago music scene. With a dedication to the art of improvisation, Jackson specializes in jazz technique; having studied with some of the leading names in jazz today such as Alexa Tarantino, Steven Feifke, Tia Fuller, and his long-time teacher Charles Rick Heath IV.  Jackson is known for his patience and optimistic collaboration.
He uplifts with a contagious passion for creativity and a taste for experimenting with the boundaries and cross-pollinations of different art forms and styles. In lessons, Jackson will focus on allowing students to comfortably pursue and thrive among genres ranging from jazz, funk, afro-cuban, blues, and hip-hop, to rock n roll, and encourages them to explore the music that they want to learn. In lessons, we will work out of jazz method books, learn grooves, study drummers, and do improvisational exercises to advance towards more complicated rhythms, limb coordination, and freedom of creativity.

Outside of lessons, Jackson Renda is currently completing his last year at Columbia College Chicago studying jazz drums and music business. You can find him playing in an array of pit bands, jazz clubs, and sold-out venues, as well as working as a session and touring musician.
