Board members sworn in, officers elected

The five-member Skokie Park District board of commissioners elected its new officers tonight at its 2025 annual meeting, with Susan Aberman elected president and Ezra Jaffe elected vice-president. Aberman has served on the board since 2001; Jaffe since 2021.

In addition, four commissioners were sworn in for 2025-26 after being elected in April. They were Aberman (bottom photo, right), Elsa Fischer (left), Antonia Kasalo-Terihaj (second from right) and Courtney Williams (second from left). Fischer, Kasalo-Terihaj and Williams were initially appointed to fill board vacancies in 2024.

newcommishes25-26Board commissioners are elected by the residents of Skokie and are responsible for setting policies and procedures that benefit the park district and the community. The board adopts a budget, levies property taxes and is responsible for hiring and evaluating the executive director. All commissioners are elected at-large and serve without compensation.
