The five-member Skokie Park District board of commissioners elected its new officers tonight at its 2025 annual meeting, with Susan Aberman elected president and Ezra Jaffe elected vice-president. Aberman has served on the board since 2001; Jaffe since 2021.
In addition, four commissioners were sworn in for 2025-26 after being elected in April. They were Aberman (bottom photo, right), Elsa Fischer (left), Antonia Kasalo-Terihaj (second from right) and Courtney Williams (second from left). Fischer, Kasalo-Terihaj and Williams were initially appointed to fill board vacancies in 2024.
Board commissioners are elected by the residents of Skokie and are responsible for setting policies and procedures that benefit the park district and the community. The board adopts a budget, levies property taxes and is responsible for hiring and evaluating the executive director. All commissioners are elected at-large and serve without compensation.
