At the October 4, 2021 Village Board Meeting, Village Trustees presented their "Public Health Partners in Excellence" award to the Skokie Park District for their contribution of volunteers to the Village COVID-19 mass vaccination center.

"Without the park district's help we just could not have run this clinic," said Skokie Director of Health and Human Services Michael Charley. "The clinic administered more than 28,000 vaccinations.”

Over several months in early 2021, park district staff signed up for hundreds of hours of shifts as part of Skokie's COVID-19 vaccination team. Executive Director Michelle Tuft accepted the award on behalf of the district.

"We were proud to assist the Skokie team in this important effort in helping to vaccinate Village residents," said Tuft. "Our staff stepped up to volunteer for many shifts, often at the last minute. All of them are to be commended for their time and efforts."

The Village also recognized the Arie Crown Hebrew Day School, Hatzalah Chicago Emergency Medical Service, Oakton Community College, North Park College Nursing Program, and the Skokie Public Library for their COVID-19 response efforts.
