Skokie Park District drops three May special events

Due to the lingering danger posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19), Skokie Park District officials today made the difficult decision to cancel its popular Skokie Festival of Cultures in May. In addition, May's Skatium Ice Arena Annual Ice Show and the Devonshire Cultural Center's Annual Dance Recital will not be held, with the two indoor events possibly being rescheduled for later dates.

“With the governor’s order to “stay at home” through April 30, we believe that holding large public events such as these will pose a health risk to the residents of Skokie,” said Skokie Park District Executive Director Michelle Tuft.

The Skokie Festival of Cultures would have celebrated its 30th annual event this year. That celebration will now be held May 22-23, 2021.

In addition, per the governor's orders, the district's facilities, playgrounds and basketball courts will remain closed, at least through April 30.
