Deadline to apply: February 20, 2024

An opening on the five member Skokie Park District Board of Commissioners was created at the board’s November 2023 meeting when commissioner Mary Oshana resigned her position.

The board will now move to appoint a new commissioner to fill the vacancy, with the newly-appointed commissioner serving for approximately one year, until the April 2025 election. The April 2025 elected commissioner will then serve the remaining two-year years of Oshana’s original term (2021-2027).

The role of park district commissioner is an elected unpaid position. One regular public meeting is held on the third Tuesday each month as well as an annual budget meeting in March. There are also multiple public events to attend during the year.

All Skokie residents are encouraged to apply. An understanding of the park district’s role in the Skokie community and its relationship with the other governmental units is preferred. The park district board is accepting applications for the position through Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Please complete an application by clicking the link below.

Interviews will be scheduled in early- to mid-March. Interview questions will be forwarded to applicants prior to their interview. The interviews will be held in-person at the Skokie Park District’s Weber Leisure Center, 9300 Weber Park Place, Skokie. Applicants should not submit answers prior to their interview.
