Breanne Labus, the Skokie Park District’s recreation services supervisor, presented a certified education session titled "Engagement: The Key to Rocking Your Staff Training" at the annual National Park and Recreation Association conference in Indianapolis last month.

Labus and two local park district colleagues designed the sessions to increase the impact of staff trainings, through the use of unique and entertaining engagement tools. The three presenters gave specific training examples applicable to aquatics, park services, recreation, and risk management divisions of park districts, for more than 220 attendees.

Labus is a national certified parks and recreation professional (CPRP) and won the Illinois Park and Recreation Association’s "Recreation Section Distinguished Member Award” in March 2018. In the past two years she has developed the new early childhood and youth program at the park district’s Weber Leisure Center, as well as managing summer sports camps, Weber birthday parties and Weber’s babysitting operation.
