Summer Camps

Outdoor Challenge Camp

Ages: 12-15 (must be 12 years old by 9/1/2018)
Location: Emily Oaks Nature Center

This unique summer program includes skill instruction and practice as well as camping trips every week! Personal confidence, group decision-making, and outdoor ethics are emphasized. Fee includes van transportation during campouts, weekly campout supplies and fees, field trip admissions, swimming weekly, and all equipment with the exception of personal gear and bicycles (rentals available). Bus transportation and extended care are not available.

Team Building & Tent Camping
Participate in a high ropes course, problem-solve during a teams course, practice your GPS skills, and attend an overnight campout at Irons Oaks Adventure Center.

Sea Kayaking
Learn how to paddle and “wet exit” a sea kayak on Lake Michigan, then kayak down the Kankakee River while on a three-day camping trip at Kankakee River State Park.

Off-road Bicycling
Review bicycle care, try out some local trails, then head to hilly Kettle Moraine State Park in Wisconsin for off-road biking during a three-day camping trip.

Rock Climbing
Discover climbing safety and techniques and practice your new skills with ropes and harnesses at Devil’s Lake State Park during a three-day trip.
